In Dehli and Bangalore two seminars were held last month by Minitube GmbH, Tiefenbach Germany in cooperation with Chemtron Analytical Instruments PVT Ltd of Delhi India. The Seminars had as a title “Improvement of Livestock Breeding in South East Asia” and were held in the National Agricultural Centre in Delhi and the Atria Hotel in Bangalore.
In total some 160 participants visited both sessions from all over India. The participants were given presentations by Minitube officials
Dr. Christa Simmet DVM, on progress made in new technologies for gamete sexing, modern day freezing innovations and field application of Progesterone analysis, and by Martin Loos MBA, MSc, on semen production technologies of the 21st century. Indian scientists and practitioners Dr. K. D. Ryot (ETT under field conditions in India), Dr. Sandeep Misra (AI in India with reference to Himalayas), Dr. Hannappa (prevalence of endometritis) and Dr. J. P. Ravindra (assisted reproductive technology in Indian scenario) also presented to the interested
audiences. Mr Y. C. Trivedi, CEO of Chemtron Analytical Instruments informed about the development of partnership with Minitube and future developments in the Indian market.
The given lectures resulted in lively discussions with the audiences.
In Delhi Minitube also displayed a wide range of state of the art equipment and materials for semen and embryo production in bovine, buffalo, ovine and caprine livestock. Various demonstrations of equipment were given, among which a demo on Sperm Vision, Minitube’s CASA system (Computer Assisted Semen Analysis). This system, for which the software has been developed by Minitube especially for the animal breeding market offers objective
analysis of semen samples. In various trials by universities it has been proven beyond doubt, that the results of analysis with the Minitube Sperm Vision CASA system prove to be very accurate compared to the manual scientific methods. This and the other demonstrations were valued very much by the participants.
Both Minitube and Chemtron are very pleased with the response received from participants and they look forward to a long lasting encounter with India and in doing so, being able to contribute to the development of livestock breeding in India. Minitube and Chemtron therefore thank all participants for their attendance and in particular Dr Krishna Swami, Vice Chancellor Hannappa and Dr H K Pradhan for their kind words and efforts in assistance rendered to the seminars.
